I am a mama-to-be who LOVES to shop, especially online. Like the I-wonder-how-many-miles-I’ve-scrolled-with-my-thumb or the true-life-my-clothing-addiction-left-me-homeless, kinda shopping problem. When I found out BUMPstyle Box, I knew I had to try it!

Y’all I spoke too soon when I said, “pregnancy is sooooo easy, I could do this forever… blah blah blah”. I just passed the 32 week mark and boy has it been struggle central over here. I’m tired… SO tired. I ache and I’m moody. Oh and I waddle. Worst part, nothing fits. I have always been one to dress to a T and I’m not talking about a t-shirt. Thankfully, I came across Pink Blush Maternity. They have the most fashion-forward, comfortable AND affordable maternity clothes that I’ve found. What’s great about their clothing is that you can even wear them postpartum! Both of these cute maxi dresses are from Pink Blush. Now the hard part is picking out which one to wear to my baby shower next weekend!

32 week bump update

8 more weeks. Is it okay to freak out yet?!

Weekend Recap:  As if we weren’t busy enough, David and I purchased a mobile home over the weekend. We have been searching for one to add to our portfolio for quite some time now. What first attracted us to mobile home investing was the small amount of money we needed to invest, especially with our new house and upcoming baby expenses. This will make property #5 for us. Part of me wants to give ourselves a pat on the back and the preggo part of me wants to shake us to death and yell “WHAT THE HECK WERE YOU THINKING?!?!?!”

New House Update:  Everything is still on schedule to close on April 14th. Ekkkkk. Here’s a little sneak peek:

How I’m Feeling:  Rough. Real rough. Between typical preggo sleeplessness, I am having the WORST allergies. The pollen in Savannah is no joke! I am so sleep deprived that I am starting to feel bad for anyone who has to interact with me on a daily basis (…my poor husband!). Thankfully, Pink Blush Maternity is making me feel half way human with their super cute and comfy maxi dresses! Because let’s be honest, not much is fitting over my big ole’ belly nowadays. Stay tuned, I’ll be hosting a special giveaway for my followers later this weekend 🙂

DIY Sharpie Mug + My Mother’s Promise

After our 3D/4D ultrasound last week, I have found myself day-dreaming more and more of our sweet little boy. It’s such an awesome feeling to be growing a baby and even more incredible that our lives will change so much in the matter of two months! When I was asked to be a part of the Pampers’ “A Mother’s Promise” campaign, I was thrilled to say YES!

A #MothersPromise is a promise made to your children and/or your unborn baby and keeping that promise in front of you as a daily reminder.

I created this mug to keep my #MothersPromise a priority and in front of me at all times. Plus after this pregnancy, I’m sure I’ll be back to my coffee-addicting self again. My DIY mug reads “be still”. My #MothersPromise is to take time to be still and remain present each and every day. I promise to take breaks from technology and the everyday hustle and bustle to explore, play, read, teach and watch him grow into a strong, kind, loving individual. Everyone says time flies by when you have children and we certainly do not want to miss a beat.

How to create your own DIY Sharpie Mug:

  1. Buy some white mugs. The Dollar Store white mugs works the best! The cheaper, the better.
  2. Grab a Sharpie. For long-lasting results, choose oil-based paint Sharpie markers. Regular Sharpie ink can come off even after baking. I used a gold oil-based paint Sharpie for my mug.
  3. Start drawing. Decide on the design of the cup, and maybe practice drawing it on a piece of paper before drawing on the mug. Pick a meaningful quote or a cute graphic to decorate the mug with.
  4. Dry it out. Let your mug dry for a few hours or overnight before placing it into the oven. You can also draw over it again if you’d like to make sure the pattern doesn’t come off in the wash. If you draw over it again, be sure to leave it out to dry again before baking.
  5. Bake it. Bake the mug in the oven for 30 minutes at 350°F. Place the mug in the oven before it heats up and leave it in until the oven cools completely so there won’t be any cracking. I baked the mug twice to really set in the Sharpie drawings.
  6. Care and wash. Hand-wash the mug gently instead of throwing it in the dishwasher.
Voila! This super easy and cheap DIY project make great baby shower gifts as well.

Now back to my #MothersPromise. As a first time mom, I want to be sure I am providing my son with the very best, from protection to unconditional love to the products we use, and that includes high quality diapers. That is why we love and trust Pampers Premium Care Diapers! These diapers are are gentle and hypoallergenic, breathable, have an extra absorbent liner and wetness indicator. Pampers Premium Care Diapers can be purchased from Walmart or

Have you made a #MothersPromise to your baby? I’d love to hear some of yours!

Thank you Pampers Premium Care and Walmart for sponsoring this post. #MothersPromise

31 week bump update + baby shower #1

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Weekend Recap:  My mom, David, and I drove up to Atlanta this past weekend for our first baby shower! The beginning of the trip was a struggle. The night before, I decided to take my workers midnight bowling not realizing it was daylight savings and that we would lose a hour of sleep. So after only a couple of hours of sleep, we were frantically packing for our trip the next morning. After driving for more than an hour, I realized that I forgot my shoes! I mean who forgets their shoes?! This preggo. Once we reached Atlanta, we had to stop by the mall to pick up some heels. Again, not realizing it was Sunday and the mall doesn’t open until 12pm (which is what time my shower starts) we were driving ALL OVER to try to find a place that was open early. Thankfully, there was a TJ Maxx open and I was able to score these cute Michael Kors heels on clearance. That my friend is what I call “winning”.

Once we got to the shower, all was well. I was no longer stressed. I was there with my best friends. It was so fun and exciting because that means it’s getting that much closer to when I can finally meet our little panda. My friends from college threw us this beautiful shower and it was held at the coolest little venue called Southbound. For those who know me well, knows how much I’m totally OBSESSED with exposed brick and wood work. Talk about swoon-worthy. Not to mention the food was uhh-mazing. We just had the best time catching up, laughing, playing games and being completely spoiled with all kinds of fun things for baby Greyson. With all the panda decorations and gifts, this kid is literally going to think he is a real life panda! The shower showed me just how much this sweet little boy is already SO loved! We are lucky he has such awesome aunties in his life 🙂

(My dress is from ASOS Maternity. Shop it here.)

House Update:  Things are actually moving along pretty well. The exterior of the house is done (except for the stone work), all the rooms are painted, cabinets are installed and the granite is in– it really looks like things are finally coming together! We also started packing up our current house. This is the not so fun part. Who knew how much stuff we can accumulate in less than a year. However, my last day working at my restaurant, Splendid Shabu, will be the first of April so I will probably be in full nesting mode by then and we enjoy the packing/organizing…. maybe. We are still hoping to move our closing date a couple days sooner so that when David’s parents come in town they can help us move. Lord knows I will be a big, waddling pregnant lady by then. Fingers crossed! (Will try to go by the new house and take some pictures later this week!)

How I’m Feeling: 2 words. Braxton. Hicks. And boy are they strong at times. Other than that, same old same old. 9 more weeks to go!

#ShopCrushSunday: NOXX | Handcrafted Beanies

On Sundays, I will be sharing my current “shop crush” of the week.

I am a small business owner; I own and operate an Asian fusion restaurant right outside of Savannah, GA. I know what it feels like to be a small fish in a big sea (for us, we are competing against giant restaurant franchises). Most of these Instagram shops are also run by mamas who are busting their booty to either provide for their family or they are helping to supplement their family’s income. Either way, Baby Greyson and I will be shoppin’ small and reppin’ small!

First up: NOXX Handcrafted Beanies

Y’all, these beanies are not only super stylish, they are INCREDIBLY soft! Baby boy isn’t even born yet and he already has a solid collection of these beanies. I am already dying to see some serious matchy matchy with his daddy!

29 week bump update

11 more weeks, y’all! Holy. Cow.

Weekend Recap:  This past weekend was a good one. David and I went on a much-needed, little getaway to Atlanta. Two of our best friends recently had their babies (one week apart) and I just could not wait another minute to see their sweet, squishy newborns. Seeing them makes me even more excited and anxious to meet our little boy. Visiting Atlanta we obviously had to stop by IKEA and picked up some things for our non-existant nursery. I literally have the nursery completely planned out, now I just need a house to put it in! Think black, white, and natural wood 🙂

House Update:  Speaking of the new house– We FIIIINALLY have a closing date. April 18th, which is exactly one month until Greyson’s due date. We are not exactly happy about this since we thought we would have 2 solid months to get settled in and now we may have as little as 2 weeks if baby comes early as we anticipate he will. However, good thing I’ll be in full nesting mode by then..

How I’m Feeling:  This little boy is STRONG! It’s crazy to watch my belly move when he starts kicking now. I totally feel like someone out of the movie whose body was invaded by an alien. I mean, this kid is moving and kicking ALL day long. As mentioned last week, my back pain has been a well, real pain. My girl friend recommended a belly/back support belt. HOLY LIFE SAVER! This thing is magic. Basically it’s a lower back brace that wraps over and under your belly. This gives great support for the long days on my feet at the restaurant. Other than that, we are still rockin’ and rollin’ at this whole pregnancy thing!

28 week bump update

First and foremost, I love being pregnant. I am definitely one of those weirdo preggo ladies who were lucky enough to not have any morning sickness (not even ONCE!), no stretch marks (thank you genes), no crazy midnight cravings (husband is thankful for this one), and no psycho mood swings (husband is ESPECIALLY thankful for this one!).  My only compliant is the extreme fatigue and preggo aches and pains that just goes along with being pregnant. The last 2 weeks have been the worst, however, part of it could have been that we had one of the busiest weekends at my restaurant, Splendid Shabu, for Valentine’s Day. I’m sure running around like a mad women doesn’t help back pains and leg cramps.

Oh and can we talk about the fact that I cannot survive a day without a nap. I use to be the best sleeper, like could fall asleep and stay asleep anywhere, anytime. Nowadays between waking up from bizarre dreams or having to pee every hour, sleeping through the night is just not happening. But I guess it’s just my body getting me ready for motherhood, because we all know NOBODY is getting sleep when baby boy arrives!

We also just had our monthly check-up and my doctor recommended a belly support belt to help with the aches and pains. So I will be on the prowl for one ASAP! Do you have one you loved or can recommend?

So there they are, all my pregnancy symptoms (or lack of) so far! I don’t think I’ve had it bad in the slightest, in fact, pregnancy makes you feel totally awesome. Every time I feel him kick, I am mind blown that MY body has made him.

new house progress

As some of you may already know, David and I are in the process of building a new house. Finally, a place for us to “settle down”. In the (almost) 4 years we have been together, we have moved 5 times between the both of us (Columbus, OH –> Atlanta, GA –> Savannah, GA). We still have not fully unpacked from our last move. However, we were not planning on moving quite so soon. Here’s a little background as why I call us “dabblers of real estate”… or just insane.

David and I come from very different backgrounds. I am Chinese; he is American. I am city (New York City); he is country (Ashland, OH). I am Louis Vuitton; he is Carhartt. You get the point. Despite the differences in how we were raised, we are both on the same page on investing, particularly in real estate. Before we were married, we each bought one rental property in Savannah. While we were engaged, we agreed that we didn’t need a huge 5000 sq ft. house with 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, wall-to-wall hardwoods, granite everything, stainless everything, etc. We probably could have, but we agreed that it was just the two of us (no kids yet) and we just didn’t need all that. So in 2015, we bought a short-sale, fixer upper house. We made a two year goal to live here and then keep it as a rental property when we eventually moved on.

Once we found out we were pregnant, we decided we might as well start looking for a bigger space. One day during my work break, we drove through the subdivision across the street from our current house and peeked into the property management office to see what they had available for sale. The next thing I knew (we literally talked to the lady for 10 minutes), we were in the process of BUILDING a new house! Our original goal was two years with our investment property, but now we are moving on in less then one year. So far, we picked out all of our upgrades, framing is complete, plumbing and electric is good to go, and this week drywall will be in place! 2 more months till move-in, 2 more months… Oh, and did I mention baby will be here in 3 months!

valentine’s day morning + a little newlywed advice

In the spirit of Valentine’s day, we were asked by our dear friends over at The Happy Bloom, fine art photography, if they could stop by one morning to catch up and capture us in our element as newlyweds. My hubby, David, and I have done some wedding editorials in the past, but this sweet photoshoot was one of my favorites to date. It was such a fun way to help us remember our relationship during a wild first year in our first home together!

We were asked if we had any advice for other newlyweds?

We have 3 little pieces of advice for a happy first year:

  1. Know your partner’s love language. Read “The 5 Love Languages” by Gary Chapman. This book is incredible. David and I learned that we feel loved in different ways. Find your partner’s love language style, then choose to show love to your partner in that way (it’s not about what YOU need to feel loved, it’s about what YOUR PARTNER needs).
  2. Communicate. Compromise. Communicate. David and I have never gotten into a fight before. True story. People are literally shocked when I tell them this. Sure, we disagree and we bicker sometimes but we have never let anything escalate to a full blown argument. How? We communicate and we compromise and we communicate some more. If you’re bothered about something or have an objection to something your partner is doing, talk. We both agree that we don’t always have to “win” when it comes to our relationship.
  3. Show a little PDA. We know PDA isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but holding hands while you walk, or even a quick peck goes a long way. Show that after all these years you still find each other attractive. Be proud to be seen together.

Head to Savannah Soiree to see the full, dreamy feature!
